In Sweden we celebrate graduation quite differently. Let me tell you about my school which was grounded year 1663 by a bishop named Johannes Rudbeckius, Rudbeckianska gymnasiet is Swedens very first high school. Nowadays the school is known for their many traditions and I can personally state that the school have amazing teachers as well. I would say the best part of being a Rudbeckian are the traditions, the teachers and the solidarity. I simply don't regret applying for this school 3 years ago, but not only that: this was in fact the best choice I ever made when I was 16 years old.
Class activities
Graduation day is closing in, the grades are already set so you may ask why is everyone still coming to school? Well you see, one of our traditions is the activity month which the senior classes attend to. From may 13th till graduation day (June 5th). There is at least a theme or one activity each day the seniors do with their class: Go to the cinema, clothing themes, BBQ, Beach day, paintball etc.

The masquerade show
Before writing this post I planned to only tell you what we do before graduation day here in Sweden but since the masquerade show is a very famous show in my town where classes makes dances and perform together I just had to include it. My class choose the theme Aladdin; a very topical theme because the movie was released this month. 12 classes participated and the show ended with only one winning class which was my class, Na16A-laddin. We have been practicing for approximately 3 months it took a lot of our freetime to prep. I'll share some pictures and clips from the successful day!
Announcing the winning class
May 29th: Hat ceremony
The white and black skipper hats are the symbol for graduation. They are costum made for the graduating students and are always kept as a memory. The ceremony was the same day as the photography day where all the senior students was wearing their graduation clothing, including the hat. All gathered in a decorated hall to mingle and sing songs together like the national song and the graduation song. We had some cider, salted sticks and chips before a student and a teacher held a speech and then the principal who gave the sign when everyone was gonna put on their hats. I was feeling very excited and happy during the ceremony, it really made me realize that there is not much time left before I leave the school with friends I spent time with for 3 years. Time flies fast and I'm already graduating in a week! I lot have happened in 3 years, both good and bad things but thinking back to the memories I know those experiences have made me who I am today. My time in this high school has been an amazing journey of growth and will always be unforgettable.
" We are Rudbeckians!"
" And then there are the ones who have! Several hundred days left! "
